When I was on the autoimmune protocol diet (elimination phase) I was always craving tacos because tacos are my favorite! The only problem is that traditional taco seasonings have spices in them that come from nightshades. In the first phase of the AIP diet, night shades are eliminated to give the gut time to heal from potentially inflammatory foods. Some examples of nightshades are peppers, tomatoes and eggplants.
I created this taco seasoning that’s completely free of nightshades so that I could eat the tacos I wanted. This seasoning may not taste super authentic but when you add in other components such as cilantro, lime juice, and other Mexican flavors, you won’t remember it’s not traditional seasoning.

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon dried cilantro
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
